The UPT-280KS is a machine for processing small-sized timber, slabs, and a universal through-feed chipper and canter. It is designed for longitudinal sawing of low-grade timber, slabs, and double-edged beams into high-quality edged lumber. Finished product cross-sections can vary from 60 to 160 millimeters in width (set by an electronic ruler that sets the distance between the side cutters) and from 10 to 200 millimeters in height (set by the number and distance between horizontal discs). The length of the workpiece can be from 1 to 6.5 meters.

On the UPT-280KS machine, two cutters are used to saw the log, which remove the side surfaces of the log, followed by two blocks of horizontal disks, which cut the planks into boards. The machine outputs a finished horizontal stack of boards and two slabs. Additional cutters can be used in the sawing pattern to remove sub-slabs, resulting in a higher percentage of usable lumber. The inclusion of side cutters in the sawing pattern ensures that the horizontal saws operate on a clean surface, significantly extending the life of the saw blades. The side cutter mechanism is equipped with a CNC electric drive, allowing the operator to quickly adjust the width of the slab while the machine is running, with the value displayed on the control panel's electronic display. Powerful linear lasers project the visual contours of the future slab directly onto the log, helping to correctly position the workpiece on the receiving table.
This machine has a unique scheme for processing small-sized raw materials, which is protected by patent RF No. 2755818.

Thanks to a number of original technical solutions applied in the UPT-280KS, it was possible to surpass similar through-feed type machines in technical characteristics, namely:

increase the percentage of suitable lumber, due to the use of additional cutters for selecting under-sill boards
reduce the cutting thickness to 3 millimeters, due to which the percentage of suitable Lumber
It is now possible to process logs with a high degree of taper and curvature
eliminate the associated thin slabs and so-called "noodles" and "splinters"
By quickly changing the distance between the side cutters, the need for preliminary sorting of the timber has been eliminated. It is now possible to process slabs, "humps," and double-edged timber
increase the machine's productivity through the use of APS (automatic speed selection)

Maximum side milling cutter removal up to 80 mm per side. Side slabs and protruding branches are processed into chips and removed by the aspiration system.
Thanks to the additional slab milling unit, it is now possible to produce a stack of edged boards of varying widths from a single log – corresponding to the optimal cutting.
An original system of clamps and guides allows for the processing of slabwood and the so-called "hump" left after sawing larger diameter logs.
Using the auxiliary unit of sliding vertical guides, the UPT-280KS can be used as a conventional multi-saw for sawing boards with a cutting width of 60 to 160 mm.
The automatic speed selection system (ASS) determines the log position and the load on the main engines, and automatically adjusts the log feed speed to achieve maximum machine performance. This ensures maximum log feed speed to the machine's entry port, smooth entry into the milling unit, and subsequent increase and automatic adjustment of the feed speed, depending on the desired load on the milling and sawing unit.
The side milling cutter sliding mechanism, which is responsible for quickly changing the width of the resulting boards or beams, is equipped with an electronic ruler with four programmable buttons for any size from 60 to 160 mm and two buttons for manual size adjustment. The current size can be changed with the press of a single button. This feature eliminates the need to sort timber (blanks) by diameter.
The UPT-280KS small-size wood processing machine is equipped with powerful linear lasers that project the contours of the future plank onto the workpiece. The operator clearly sees what can be obtained from a log while it is still on the feed table (log conveyor).

The UPT-280KS hinged casings provide reliable protection for workers from sawdust, while allowing easy access to the machine's interior for maintenance.
The receiving table of the UPT-280KS small-log sawmill is equipped with manual log tilters, which allow the operator to lift the workpiece above the table and rotate it. By turning the log, the operator is guided by projection lasers, thereby achieving a more optimal yield of usable lumber.
The receiving table is equipped with guides with a quickly adjustable feed angle to accommodate any log range from 80 to 280 mm. This unit allows for pre-centering of the log, facilitating its loading from the trestle, and freeing the operator from the need to escort the log to the centering clamp.
The log centering clamp is designed to automatically align and hold logs on the machine's feed table (log conveyor). Also, if logs with a high degree of curvature and protruding branches need to be sawn, the clamp can be moved to the upper, non-working position and locked. This option eliminates the need to dismantle the entire structure when changing the machine's operating mode.
