The UPT-280S small timber processing machine is a universal through-type milling and canting machine designed for longitudinal sawing of low-grade wood, slabs, and two-edged timber into high-quality edged lumber. The sections of the finished product can vary from 60 to 160 millimeters in width (set by an electronic ruler that sets the size between the side cutters) and from 10 to 250 millimeters in height (set by the number and distance between the horizontal disks), while the length of the workpiece can be from one to six and a half meters. On the UPT-250KS machine, two cutters are involved in sawing the log, which remove the side surfaces of the log, and two blocks of horizontal disks following them, which saw the planks prepared after the cutters into boards. At the exit from the machine we get a finished horizontal pack of boards and two slabs. Also, in the sawing scheme, additional cutters can be used to select under-slab boards, which allows to obtain an increased percentage of suitable lumber.
The presence of side cutters in the sawing scheme ensures the operation of horizontal discs on a clean surface, thereby significantly extending the service life of saw blades. The mechanism for moving - expanding the side cutters is equipped with a CNC electric drive, due to which the operator can quickly change the width of the slab during machine operation, while the value of the value will be displayed on the electronic display of the control panel. Visual contours of the future slab are projected directly onto the log by powerful linear lasers, which help to correctly position the workpiece on the receiving table.
   This machine has a unique scheme for processing small-sized raw materials, which is protected by a patent RF No. 2755818.

Thanks to a number of original technical solutions used in the UPT-280KS, it was possible to surpass similar through-type machines in technical characteristics, namely:

• increase the percentage of suitable lumber, due to the use of additional cutters for selecting under-sawn boards
• reduce the thickness of the cut to 3 millimeters, due to which the percentage of suitable lumber
• it became possible to process logs with a high degree of conicity and curvature
• to get rid of the accompanying thin slabs and so-called "noodles" and "splinters"
• due to the prompt change of the distance between the side cutters, the need for preliminary sorting of the forest has disappeared
• it became possible to process slabs, "humps" and two-edged timber
• to increase the productivity of the machine, due to the use of the automatic speed selection APS

Main advantages and differences:

	Maximum removal of side cutters up to 72 mm per side. Side slabs and protruding branches are processed into chips and removed by the aspiration system.
Thanks to the additional slab milling unit, it is now possible to obtain a pack of edged boards of different widths from one log - corresponding to the optimal cutting.
	The original system of clamps and guides makes it possible to process slabs and the so-called “hump” left after sawing logs of a larger diameter.
With the help of the auxiliary unit of sliding vertical guides, it is possible to use the UPT-280KS as a regular multi-saw, for sawing a plank with a cutting width from 60 to 160 mm.
	The automatic speed selection system, abbreviated as ASS, determines the position of the log, the degree of load on the main engines, and automatically adjusts the log feed speed in such a way as to achieve maximum machine productivity. At the same time, the maximum speed of log feed to the input window of the machine is ensured, then - a smooth entry into the milling unit with a subsequent increase and automatic regulation of the feed speed, depending on the desired load on the milling and sawing unit.
The mechanism for moving - expanding the side cutters, responsible for quickly changing the width of the resulting boards or beams, is equipped with an electronic ruler with 4 programmable buttons for any size from 60 to 160 mm and 2 buttons for manual size change. Changing the current size is done by pressing just one button. This function allows to do without sorting the forest (blank) by diameter.
	The UPT-280KS small timber processing machine is equipped with powerful linear lasers that project the contours of the future plank onto the blank. The operator clearly sees what can be obtained from the log while it is still on the feed table (log hauler).

	The hinged casings of the UPT-280KS provide reliable protection for workers from sawdust, and at the same time, provide free access to the internal structure for servicing the machine.
The receiving table (log hauler) of the UPT-280KS small timber processing machine is equipped with manual log tilters, with which the operator can lift the workpiece above the table and turn it. By turning the log, the operator is guided by the projection lasers and thus achieves a more optimal yield of suitable lumber.
	The receiving table is equipped with guides with a quickly adjustable bed angle for any range of logs from 80 up to 280 mm. This unit allows you to pre-center the log, as well as facilitate the loading of the log from the overpass and free the operator from the need to accompany the log to the centering clamp.
The centering log clamp is designed to automatically align and hold logs on the feed table (log hauler) of the machine. Also, the clamp can be moved and locked in the upper non-working position - this option allows you not to dismantle the entire structure if you need to saw logs with a high degree of curvature and protruding branches.
